InZone is supported by a committed team of people who work together to help our taitamariki thrive. From our kāinga staff, management and administration teams to our Board of Trustees, each person contributes to the care, support and day-to-day running of InZone.
Together, we share a commitment to helping Māori and Pasifika taitamariki succeed in education, grow in confidence and stay connected to their identity, culture and whānau.

SHALOM TANIELU

Shalom was born and raised in Samoa and comes from the village of Puleia, Savaii.
Shalom received her Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting at Auckland University of Technology in 2018. She had been working for the Government of Samoa prior to moving back to New Zealand in early 2020.
Shalom loves baking, cooking, travelling and spending time with family.
CAMERON MCGILL
FINANCE MANAGER
Cameron is the father of three girls who he shares with his Samoan wife. Two of his daughters attend Epsom Girls Grammar School. He is our resident Aussie, there’s always one sneaking in but has lived in Aotearoa for a long time now.
Cameron has been an Accountant for over 18 years and has previously worked at NZ Fisheries and NZ Customs Service.
He is a mad keen sports fan and loves playing/watching any sport that’s going though he admits to being a bit unfit these days.
The culture, ethos and founding principles of InZone are what attracted Cameron to work with us. He really enjoys seeing the rangatahi succeed and grow into tomorrow’s leaders.

Karllie brings 20 years’ experience in secondary education involving a number of pastoral and on-site supervision roles. This includes thirteen years as a secondary teacher at Te Kura Tuarua o Tihipuke (Hillcrest High School) in Kirikiriroa Hamilton. Most recently she was a secondary teacher for five-week programmes based at Hillary Outdoors, on Aotea Great Barrier Island. Karllie's extensive pastoral experience comes from nine years as a secondary school Dean. The skills and expertise Karllie brings to InZone is a perfect fit for the role of Senior Boarding Manager at the girls kāinga. She is a believer of life long learning and is currently completing her Masters of Education. Karllie has a real passion for te taiao and outdoor activities and loves to get out on hiking adventure with any free time she gets.
CIE HAYWARD

Cie started working for InZone in May 2016 as a Boarding Manager. She ensures that our girls are looked after and supervised daily.
Born in Auckland, Cie grew up in Hokianga. She is married with six children, 4 mokopuna (so far) and lives in Mangere Bridge.
Before coming to InZone, Cie worked in Reception, data entry and childcare. At InZone, Cie most enjoys getting to work with all the InZone Students and whānau.

With Māori, Japanese and European whakapapa, Rachel/Rāhera Renata has been working passionately in Youth and Community development for over 12 years. She has lived most of her life in Te Whanganui a Tara Wellington but moved to Auckland in 2019 with her husband so that they would be able to study Indigenous Theology. 2021 saw them both enrolling in rumaki reo, Te Wananga o Takiura, to reclaim their reo and gain a better understanding of whakaaro māori.
2022 will see both her and her husband finishing their degrees in indigenous theology.
Rāhera has experience in disabilities, mental health support and trauma. She often travels to speak at youth events but holds more value in her relational interactions with young people.
She was excited to step into a supportive role in the girls' kainga and is most happy cleaning and cooking in the kitchen as she believes food is a commonly understood love language.

Carnia-Rose Aupouri is one of our weekend kaiāwhina at the girls kāinga. During the week she works as a teacher aide at Kedgley Intermediate School during the day and tutors English at Kumon during her evenings.
Before joining InZone, Carnia-Rose has had work experience with Public Outreach where she did ethical phone fundraising for Make-A-Wish foundation. Prior to that, she did a four-year internship with Fletcher Building Limited as a recipient of the First Foundation Scholarship.
Carnia-Rose Aupouri has a proud cultural heritage of Samoan and Maori. She was raised in Tāmaki Makaurau since the age of three and has been an active member in the E.F.K.S Magele i Sisifo Congregational Church. There she learnt how to speak, read and write in Gagana Samoa.
She is very excited to step into a role where she is working alongside youth. Her purpose is to aid, nurture and support our tamariki to push beyond their perceived limits, so they can reach their full potential.

Iam 28 years old and have 3 children between 7 and 12. I love spending most of my time with family, I enjoy music and traveling to my hometown. I grew up in Otara and Manurewa. I now live in Papakura.
Before joining the team at InZone, I was working as a teacher aide at Randwick Park school in Manurewa. While working in their bilingual unit for a year, I saw the passion from rangatahi getting to know the importance of their culture. Working at InZone I hope to share the same passion as these students with everyone. I hope to make the environment at InZone a fun and exciting place to be.

The InZone Education Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees with experience across the commercial and education sectors, and a shared commitment to supporting whānau and communities.
The Board brings expertise in human resources, brand, marketing and communications, education, strategy and mātauranga Māori, strengthening InZone’s kaupapa and governance.

I am an experienced HR Professional with 20 years’ experience across a wide range of financial services. Previously at ASB Bank looking after Private Banking Wealth and Insurance and just recently joined Tower Insurance at the Head of People & Culture. I enjoy partnering with business leaders to drive people engagement & capabilities delivering strategic HR solutions.
My role enables me to utilise my skills and experience working with great people and leaders. I am very passionate about increasing Māori and Pacific representation in corporate environments by creating opportunities for our rangatahi and building our next future Māori and Pacific leaders. It is this passion that has attracted me to the InZone kaupapa and I am very excited to be joining a great team.
I have a partner Jamie and two tamariki. Jarvarnah , 19 years old in her second year at Auckland University and Armani, 14 years old in his first year at Auckland Boys Grammar. They are of Māori and Cook Island decent and so energising and motivating people to feel confident in themselves and their culture to realise their potential is one of my purposes in life, so they can go on to do amazing things.
In my spare time, I love all sports, but I particularly love to coach & play netball. I have coached teams at club, high school and representative levels but mainly now focus on Māori Netball, coaching Tamaki Under 17s. I am also on the Netball Waitakere Board and always love to work with our communities.
GERALD BETHELL
Trustee
Gerald works in his family business. His wife, Susan, and their three sons are of Ngāti Whakaue (Te Arawa) descent and attend Auckland Grammar. Gerald attended Auckland Grammar from 1987 to 1991. He graduated from Auckland University in 1997 and went on to work in corporate finance. He is a director on a number of private companies and joint ventures. Gerald supports the InZone Kaupapa and believes in the positive outcomes from providing Māori and Pacific rangatahi access to quality education. He has observed the opportunities Auckland Grammar and Epsom Girls Grammar provide in developing character.
KARA WAETFORD
Trustee
As immediate past Chair of our InZone Advisory Group, an Auckland Grammar School (AGS) old boy (’87), out of zone student and Māori (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Hine), Kara is very passionate about the opportunities InZone provides to our rangatahi and the impact they have in their wider community.
Kara is currently a senior consultant a Te Amokura; a boutique Maori firm of professionals who work with businesses, the government and communities to find simple, innovative and sustainable solutions to complex issues and problems. Over the past fifteen years Kara has held executive roles in retail with JB HiFi, Warehouse Stationery and The Warehouse.
Kara lives in Mt Eden and has a son at AGS and a daughter a local intermediate and is a keen cricket and soccer coach.

Jo grew up in Horohoro, a small community just out of Rotorua, where there is a marae and church, a school, and some farms.
She now lives in Auckland with her tāne, Isaac and their three tamariki, Ngāwai 19, Tia 17, and Nakoia 15.
They get back to Rotorua often.
Jo has worked in the public sector, not for profit sector, and now works in the private sector. She gained some qualifications along the way - a Bachelor of Commerce from Waipapa Taumata Rau, and a Master of Arts -Te Reo Māori from AUT. She currently works at the Bank of New Zealand in the People and Culture team, driving their Māori strategy.
Prior to BNZ, Jo worked at Heartland Bank and this is where she became involved with InZone.
She led Heartland's Māori and Pasifika Internship programme where she worked with InZone rangatahi who participated in
the internship programme over four summers. The positive impact that InZone had on these tauira was clear to see through the
aroha expressed in the way they spoke about 'hostel life'. Furthermore, the tauira displayed impressive capability and values.
This was the impetus to continue to be involved with the InZone kaupapa.
Outside of work, Jo has a passion for te reo Māori, recently qualifying as a translator and translating a children's book and an NZ documentary.
She also likes to keep fit and tries really hard to keep up at Crossfit.

Dane is a Development Manager for Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and HLC, managing commercial land development projects for both organisations. He and his wife Jacqui have twin boys, and live on the papakāinga at Ōrākei. Dane attended Auckland Grammar from 1998 – 2003, becoming prefect and captaining the First XV. He graduated from the University of Otago with Bachelor of Commerce. Dane started his career in agriculture and horticulture, working in management roles for organisations such as Silver Fern Farms and T&G Global. A passion for rugby took Dane overseas where he played in the UK for five years. The inevitable pull to come home and contribute to iwi, hapū and whānau lead to a career change into property development, first in governance role as Associate Director for the commercial arm of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, then as Development Manager for Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara and HLC.
Dane believes the InZone Education Foundation opens up a world of opportunities for Māori and Pasifika girls and boys, by not only being a facilitator but also a driver of strong schooling and positive values.
