InZone Girls

Our InZone girl’s  Te Kāinga Huarahi opened at the beginning of  2015 in the zone of Epsom Girls Grammar School. The hostel  was inaugurated with the InZone Girls Pōwhiri.  The event was a great success, with over 300 people attending and contributing to the event’s significance.  Key guests included parliamentarians from both Government and the Opposition, Principal Madeline Gunn from EGGS, and Kaumātua and Kuia from Ngāti Whātua.
Establishing InZone Girls took alot of hard work from an army of volunteers.  We are extremely grateful to all those who have supported us along the way.

For the first two years of operation, the InZone Girls Te Kāinga Huarahi  was housed in a beautiful villa close to Epsom Girls Grammar School. It was a home away from home for 17 Māori and Pacific Island girls.
In 2017, InZone girls moved to a new and larger hostel, which houses 22 girls with the capacity for 30 girls. The new hostel belongs to the United Maori Mission and holds great significance for us as it is the very hostel at which InZone boys first started.

Epsom Girls Grammar School (EGGS) is a leading New Zealand public secondary school, located in the centre of Epsom, Auckland.  EGGS has been supporting the education of young women since 1917 and has historically had a vibrant multicultural student base.
The InZone Education Foundation specifically sought a relationship with EGGS because the school shares many of the same core values underpinning the InZone vision.  At EGGS, achievement is fostered in academic, sporting and cultural spheres and EGGS girls distinguish themselves annually in all these areas on a local, national and international level.
Moreover, developing leadership is an important issue for EGGS.  The school proudly celebrated its centenary in April this year, it can boast a formative influence in many New Zealand leaders who have already influenced our country, in addition to more who are still emerging.
