New year, new cohort of enthusiastic rangatahi starting on the InZone waka!

We welcomed our Year 9/3rd Formers to InZone with Whakawhanaungatanga Week which was a great success. Matua Dan says “What an awesome bunch! Even within the first 24 hours, it was like they’ve known each other for years! I can definitely sense the strong relationship and bond between them. Very much looking forward to working with this group of awesome rangatahi!”

Matua Wayne kept them all busy right from their 06.30am wake up through to lights out at 9pm. Each morning started with room inspections, breakfast and duties before spending several hours at Kip McGrath undergoing academic tutoring, prep and assessment to set the rangatahi up well for their first year at college. Whaea Cie was in charge of lunches each day to refuel everyone before afternoon activities which varied from visits to the Auckland Domain and the Auckland Art Gallery, with most days including a swim at the Parnell Baths. Every evening was spent in a Mātauranga session with Matua Wayne to fully prepare our newest rangatahi for the year ahead both at school and at InZone.

Our pōwhiri to welcome the new rangatahi and whānau to InZone was held on Saturday. He rā ataahua! All kaikōrero delivered beautiful whaikōrero including our kaumatua, whanau and Te Rangikituwaho, one of the new rangatahi.
