A leap into the unknown
by InZone on November 13th, 2016

There’s nothing like an adrenaline-filled jump from a great height for preparing you for the next exciting stage in your life.
This is what a group of our graduate leavers did in October to mark the end of their school days.
Fourteen of our InZone graduates, including Tayla Kohu, our sole Year 13 InZone girl, took the leap from the Auckland Harbour Bridge, thanks to AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand's JumpStart programme.
Since 2005, the free JumpStart programme has only been available to Queenstown high school leavers. But now it is coming to Auckland, and thanks to long-time InZone supporter Michelle Boag, our InZone students were the first on the list to do the epic jump.
They were joined on the day by the Seven Sharp TV crew, who interviewed them, filmed them jumping, and also came to the boys’ kainga for some background filming.
As  AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand’s Tash Lawrence said on TVNZ’s Seven Sharp, “It’s all about taking on that challenge. Giving them that attitude where they can walk out of school and say ‘you know what -  if I can do this, I can do absolutely anything in life.’”
The free bungy jump will now be a rite of passage for all InZone graduates in the coming years, and it is sure to be something they will look back on as a fitting start to their new lives away from school.
A huge thank you to AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand's JumpStart programme, and to our untiring supporter, coach and mentor, Michelle Boag. We couldn’t have done this without you!
